DC's crazy shenanigans maybe the big comics story of the summer - but there was news a few weeks ago that Disney has banned Marvel UK / Panini from using British-created content in its titles.
Aside from the fact this puts people out of work it's sad there's now less comic product aimed at young readers who have become fans of superheroes from cartoon shows and films but aren't old enough for Marvel and DC's mainstream super hero comics. If there aren't comics aimed at young readers with an interest in superheroes how are the companies going to cultivate a new audience? Or are they hoping people will suddenly become comics readers in their teenage years off the back of a hit game like Arkham Asylum?
I'm most disappointed though that this means an end to Spider-Man And Friends! This is aimed at the young readers market and features stuff like the following story. Where else are you going to find Civil War 'reimagined' for the pre-school audience? It's genius!
